"Praying is more important than preaching. A message is more important than a sermon." --Jack Graham

Photo of Brian ProffitWhether it's a single week so your pastor can have a well-deserved rest, several days for an intensified spiritual experience (like they used to call a revival), or a few months as you transition between leaders, I'd like to offer my experience to provide sound biblical teaching in a way that transforms lives.

Hi, my name is Brian Proffit and I've been a professional communicator my entire adult life. As far back as high school I was given the opportunity to preach several times. During my time in the technology world, first with IBM and then as Director of PC Week Corporate Labs, I spoke at every major computer trade show in the world—including being keynote speaker at an IBM event where I addressed an audience of several thousand. I was invited to speak at dozens of churches in the area during seminary, and was asked by the head of the preaching department, Dennis Phelps (now holder of the J.D. Grey Chair of Preaching at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary), to serve as his teaching assistant. I served for a time as interim pastor at Whispering Pines Church, and was senior pastor of Victory Baptist Church. Since then I've been speaking freelance for churches, church retreats, and so on, and also producing resources to help them thrive. I run the Preaching Unleashed website and publish the Smart Ministry newsletter, where I've been publishing not only my own thoughts but also articles from—and my conversations with—the most influential church leaders of our time, from Dallas Willard and Chuck Swindoll to Mark Batterson and Alan Hirsch.
